Further down the spiral with Homeworlds deck building, this time focusing on everybody favorite screeching hyena - turned Galactic Emperor. Burn baby, burn
Another personal peeve is to always try and explore the available options of any showcase leader that I'm lucky enough to chance upon. First pull of this set was Darth Sidius, so at least I got off easy this time - since the underlying concept is pretty straight. Ping, kill, crush - but all in moderation, until you finish them off with General Grievious who actually managed to git gud after quite a few cards.
Two important things to bear in mind when playing with Darth Sidius (or against):
- ability works also if you are defending
- shields cancel the damage so you have no trigger
First deck is probably the easiest to pilot, standard red/green villainy droid package with splash options using the 27hp base and a few unexpected tricks in the sideboard. If you play it a couple of times, you will get a feeling of how things are supposed to roll and most cards click together pretty well. The only card that's slightly troublesome is No Disintegrations. I've put it there for beefy opponents, but it does occupy the slot of opeation cinder / fear and dead men which can be a brutal finisher against ultra wide decks like ewok spam.
The second version is a bit more advanced, and its performance improves along with one's understanding of the current meta (as any call to discard deck), because you live and die by what and if Garindan discards. But it can make a lot of late game control players rather unhappy while putting decent pressure and clearing the board. It is less tuned than the command version, but it seems to be room for improvement. As master Quigon put it in the Phantom Menace ""Be mindful of the future, but not at the expense of the moment.""
Sideboard looks a bit weird, it is tuned against Hemlock and pilot spam. Can possibly change radically.
I'm working also on a version of the -evident- Cad Bane clone version with vigilance, but first draft was 96 cards - it will take some time to coalesce into something more useful.
