Cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrency was the last loukoumades bite of the trip: honest for exactly what it is, without trying to be something grander. I clearly prefer it with four players; at three, the RNG weighs more heavily, though it is still perfectly enjoyable.

Cryptocurrency closed out the trip like the final bite of loukoumades: perhaps not the thing you will remember as the greatest culinary experience of your life, but exactly what you want at that moment. Honest, pleasant, and right for the occasion.
At its core, it is a game where luck has a noticeable role, and that is part of its experience. It does not pretend every development is entirely in your hands; there is RNG that can push a game in one direction or another.
The group composition meaningfully affects how that plays out. With four players, the game felt more right to me, while at three the randomness becomes more pronounced and has less room to be smoothed out by the presence of the others. It does not ruin it; it is simply very clearly my less preferred version.
Overall, it is a perfectly fine game for what it promises and for the place it occupied on the trip. Same again next year!
P.S. Quote of the trip, from a Conan teammate who does not know that I am a devotee of great Slaanesh—and that the pain of my teammates in co-ops is bread and butter to me: “Mate, are you sure you’re from Athens? You’re way too relaxed, I’m telling you, you’ve got Toumba in your veins.”
