Cosmic Colonies
Cosmic Colonies is a lean, well-produced puzzle game of around 40 minutes: it did not blow me away, but it gave me the right amount of brain-burn for its size.

Cosmic Colonies gave me the feeling of a simple, polished game that knows exactly what it wants to be. Its production is perfectly good and, on the table, it nicely supports this short spacefaring session without promising anything grander than it delivers.
At its core, I play cards to acquire resources. Those are the fuel that lets me keep developing my personal area of the game and, ultimately, chase victory points.
That development follows a Tetris-like logic: I try to fit what I gain efficiently, making the most of my space and scoring more points. Interaction, from what the base game offers, does not seem to be its main selling point; the Kickstarter mini expansion may make it a little more competitive, but that remains fine print.
I did not find anything earth-shattering here, but for a game that lasts barely 40 minutes it has a good level of brain-burn and a pleasantly clean table presence. I am not sure I would recommend it to players looking for something more than a short, honest puzzle experience. And lastly, the surprise of the trip: the return of Space Base!
