Fancy Feathers
Fancy Feathers has an unusual draft and the right sort of ambition for a two-player pocket game. Unfortunately, too much of the match seems to depend on which birds happen to turn up.

I am always looking for clever pocket games that hold up at two, and Fancy Feathers initially appears to have exactly the right ambition. Its odd drafting system is genuinely the bit that makes you look twice. That is something, at least.
The game revolves around that draft: only six of the twelve bird types are used in any given play. Those choices are not merely a change of scenery; they determine the material the game has to work with.

Player interaction therefore lives mostly in the draft and in the birds shared across the table. At two, though, the mechanism seems to run out of road rather early; with three or four players — and a second copy — it may become considerably more cut-throat.
The trouble is that whether you get a proper game or a muddle depends too heavily on the particular set of six birds. A game with one mechanism this central ought not to leave its overall quality to a draw from the aviary. It teaches one neat trick in a small box; as a two-player game, broadly speaking, meh.
