I had been waiting for Let's Waltz! eagerly, and thankfully it has not arrived merely to fill the box with extra cardboard. It follows the classic multi-module approach: pick what you want, add it in, and shape the experience yourself. What matters is that everything feels carefully made and inseparably connected to the original design.
In our game, we did not try everything. We added some cards, the ballrooms, and other milestones, and that was enough to change the game noticeably. There are new things to do and new, interesting directions for your strategy, without making you feel as though you are playing an entirely different game.
The most meaningful addition for me is the dancers. At four players, they provide more options and make planning your overall strategy far more manageable. Rather than looking for razor blades under the pressure, the game moves along at a reasonable pace and even forgives the occasional mistake — which, however much it saddens the hardcore player inside me, Grand Austria Hotel probably needed.
A superb expansion. If you own the original Grand Austria Hotel, Let's Waltz! is a must-buy. And if you do not own the original, honestly: why? 🙂
