Imperium: Legends
Imperium: Legends won me over enough to buy both boxes, but after only two plays I am still trying to work out what the game is really saying to me.

The description convinced me, and I ended up buying both boxes, Classics and Legends. It is a very attractive production on the table and definitely has that feeling of having opened something substantial. Even so, I cannot yet say that I fully understand what it is trying to do.
I have played two games from Legends: Arthurian versus Minoan, and Maurytan versus Egypt. The first was an almost disastrous experience. Had I stopped there, I would probably have thrown the game in the bin. To be fair, though, that was partly on me: with no previous experience, I jumped straight into a maximum-difficulty civilisation that also works differently from the game's standard flow.
The second game was clearly more manageable, but that alone is not enough to draw a conclusion. The asymmetry between civilisations seems to have a major effect on how a match develops: depending on which ones are chosen, the table can become genuine chaos or a very disappointing kind of solitaire. In that sense of asymmetry, it reminded me of the aftertaste Space Corp: Ventures left me with.
For now, I am reserving judgement. I want several more games, ideally against someone who knows the game as well, before I form a complete opinion. This feels like one of those games that deserves its own thread for sharing experiences—because I suspect every play can leave you with a completely different impression.
