Starship Captains
Starship Captains is a light gateway worker-placement game with one promising idea in its crew queue, but too little energy to make that idea matter.

Starship Captains is trying to be the quick, light palate-cleanser after something heavier. It even has an idea worth noticing: the crew queue. Unfortunately, it has built a limp, beige game around it, as though it launched with half a tank.
At heart, this is worker placement for a gateway audience. You manage your crew, and their order in the crew queue is meant to give your choices some personality. The foundation is there. The follow-through is not.
It feels as though it wants to drift in Arnak's wake, but it is light-years away.

As the game unfolds, its systems never gather the tension they promise. The choices do not create meaningful friction, nor does the placement become more than a polite administrative exercise. It feels as though it wants to drift in Arnak's wake, but it is light-years away.
It is not a disaster; it merely recalls Hyperspeed, which is not a compliment. If Alien Frontiers, Scoville, or another genuinely good gateway game is absent from the shelf, it may keep younger children creatively occupied. For everyone else, Starship Captains is a good idea trapped in a very lukewarm flight.
