The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire
The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire made a very good first impression on me: quick, interesting, and free of the dead moments that pull you out of the group. At around 1 hour and 10 minutes, it felt like money well spent.

So far, Minion has not disappointed me with its releases. We are not necessarily talking about heavy games, but they usually have enough going on, enough interest and—most importantly for me—virtually no downtime.
With Energy Empire, we played, we enjoyed it, and the game lasted around 1 hour and 10 minutes. That is one of those runtimes that keeps the table moving, without making you feel as though you are waiting forever for your turn to come back around.
Mechanically, what stayed with me most from the experience was precisely its pace. I did not experience it as a heavy game, but neither did it feel uninteresting or throwaway: there was enough interest there to make me want to stay engaged in the game.
And the fact that downtime was practically nonexistent makes a big difference to how it comes across on the table. The game moved along smoothly and, for me, that is one of the most important things in this kind of game.
In short: cool story, money well spent. The first encounter was clearly positive, and I definitely want to see it on the table again.
